Cenla Boardbuilders

What is Cenla Boardbuilders?

Cenla Boardbuilders provides a unique opportunity for emerging professionals in Cenla to become active in their community as members of local nonprofit Boards of Directors.

Who Should Participate?

Cenla Boardbuilders offers governance training for individuals in the community who are looking to take their volunteerism to the next level. As a nonprofit board member, volunteers can join the ranks of local community leaders in the nonprofit sector who are working to address meaningful causes.

Professionals

Professionals identified by their employer as "up and coming" leaders with a desire to become involved in the community.

Individuals

Interested individuals who may be retired, self-employed, or looking for higher-level volunteer opportunities.

Nonprofit board members

Nonprofit board members who are in need of an orientation to their new role on a board.

Participants are trained through a series of governance sessions focused on the roles and responsibilities of being an effective Board member.

Employer Partners

Cenla employers can participate in the Cenla Boardbuilders by encouraging their best and brightest emerging professionals to apply to the program. As an Employer Partner, you allow your employee time away from work to attend the trainings and program meetings. Employer Partners benefit from the program by fostering leadership skills in their employees and expanding the company's reach into the community.

To date, the program has two hundred and sixty-four (264) Cenla BoardBuilders Alumni. To participate in the 2024 program either as a participant, nonprofit partner, or employer partner, submit an application or call 318.443.7880 to obtain additional information.

TWO TRACKS

Participants may pursue two learning tracks for the program.
First decide which learning track you would like to apply for the program:

TRACK I

Track I is for currently seated board members who are only seeking training for their role. This is an opportunity to receive refresher training on board governance or to obtain an orientation to governance as a newly seated board member. Individuals taking this track must be currently serving on a nonprofit board without plans to participate in recruitment activities for a board placement.

TRACK II

Track II is for individuals with no previous experience who are seeking governance training in preparation for nonprofit board service. This is an opportunity to receive an orientation to nonprofit governance and to connect with local nonprofits who are looking to recruit board members. Individuals taking this track commit to participate in recruitment activities for placement on a nonprofit board in Central Louisiana.

Nonprofit Partner Application

Nonprofit Partners are local groups who are looking to recruit new members for their board of directors. You can expect to connect with potential nominees through the program's networking lunch and recruitment session. Interested nonprofits should have an actively engaged board with a working committee structure. Board member involvement in the recruitment process is critical. To support your effort, CDW provides webinars and training resources on successful board recruitment strategies and mentoring board members for retention.

We want to collect a little information about your organization as you enter this program. Please complete and submit the Application Form and the Online Profile Form listed below. Your Nonprofit Partner Application Packet will not be complete until all items are received by our office. Mark your calendar for the networking lunches and expect to receive confirmation of your participation before the program start date.
