Have you ever found yourself wishing you knew the best strategy or procedure to address your organizational issues? You spend hours asking other organizations and searching the internet in an attempt to gain some guidance. After your quest you are left with less time, more frustration and a lot more questions. Why not make CDW's Nonprofit Reference Library your first stop?
Located on the first floor of The Rapides Foundation Building in downtown Alexandria, the Community Development Works (CDW) Learning Lab is a place for citizens, community groups, and nonprofit organizations to access technical assistance, information, publications, and databases that support citizen-led community development efforts.

Foundation Center Cooperating Collection
The Community Development Works (CDW) Learning Lab has been designated as a Foundation Center Cooperating Collection site. This distinction will allow the Lab to better serve grantseekers in the region by acquiring Foundation Center resources for grantseeking and grant writing. The Foundation Center is a nonprofit organization headquartered in New York City. The Center performs research on charitable giving, presents information on U.S. philanthropies, and helps grantseekers find funding and program information.
The CDW Learning Lab Cooperating Collection site is now one of more than 450 Collections across the United States. The Foundation Directory Online database, along with Foundation Center publications, is available in the Lab for public use. Foundation Center publications include books on grant seeking and writing and grants for individuals, arts, health and religious funding.
The CDW reference library contains a variety of holdings spanning from Fundraising to Strategic Planning. Included in the collection are resources on Arts Management and Parish Nursing. With more than 400 titles available and a small computer center for prospect and program research, CDW has created a rich resource of information specifically selected to assist nonprofit organizations and community groups in all stages of development. The CDW Learning Lab is open Monday - Friday, 8 a.m. - 12 p.m. and 1 p.m. - 4:30 p.m. unless the lab is in use for training sessions or consultations. Call Felicia Walker at 318-443-7880 for lab availability. The lab is closed for all major holidays.
